Woodland and peatland projects depend on the right evidence existing at the right point in the project lifecycle. If registration, baseline, validation, or monitoring work happens too late, the estate may lose optionality or future value.

The timing problem

The Woodland Carbon Code currently requires projects to be registered before work begins on site. Peatland Code guidance requires baseline site survey before restoration takes place, and Peatland Code projects are independently validated and verified.
